Royal Navy CDBA Scrubber Subsystem
The scrubber is located on the divers chest, directly under his chin. |
Scrubber is removed by loosening the clamp and then withdrawal of the assembly from the counterlung. |
The scrubber is modest in size, that being partially compensated for by the superior efficiency of the pendulum system, wherein the gas is passed twice over the scrubber bed, and in which each granule of scrubber media has two surfaces presented to the gas path. |
Back of the main scrubber can is perforated to allow gas to pass into the counterlung. |
Turning the back of the can 90 degrees allows the scrubber to be disassembled for servicing. |
A fine screen is used behind the perforations to contain the scrubber media. All components are brass or bronze, including the screen. This is for corrosion control as well as non-magnetic properties. |
Interior of the scrubber is very well finished, reflecting the care and effort put forth into the construction of the entire apparatus. |
